500 Days Of Summer

I absolutely love this movie. It is one of the quirkiest, cleverest romantic comedies I've seen to date.
I love how the scenes zipped back and forth, linking the past to the present and piecing everything up so beautifully. There are several memorable quotes throughout the movie which are so real, totally witty and utterly hilarious. I ADORE the ending. It gives people much hope in finding love again. A new season, a new hope.
Thank God for creating the seasons. :D

Smile

Smile though your heart is aching
Smile even though it's breaking
When there are clouds in the sky
You'll get by
If you smile through your fear and sorrow
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You'll see the sun come shining through
For you
Light up your face with gladness
Hide every trace of sadness
Although a tear
Maybe ever so near
That's the time you must keep on trying
Smile, what's the use of crying
You'll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile

Updates And Plans
It was a pretty weekend. Well, despite the rain on Saturday morning, I had quite a bit of fun snapping photographs of the gorgeous tulips at the Tesselaar Tulip Festival. I'll let the slides do the talking. :)
The weather on Sunday was beautiful. I was supposed to meet Peichin, Don, Shannon and her mother for a visit at Camberwell Market. Unfortunately, I couldn't wake up on time and backed out last minute. Actually, I could have rushed down to meet them, but I would have been at least 20 minutes late and it wouldn't have been very nice to make everyone wait for me. So, just before I stepped out of the apartment, I sent Peichin a message to explain. What a pity. :( Oh well, I guess I'll join them all another time.
I didn't have a Plan B, and since Juliana invited me to join her for grocery-shopping, I thought, "Why not? Such a waste to stay indoors when the sky is such a brilliant blue!" We ended up buying a few DVDs (gosh, they're cheaper than back home!) and did our grocery shopping individually, after which I watched her eat an early dinner while we chatted at the same time.
My parents arrived Melbourne on Tuesday morning, so I've been hanging out with them since. We had pho for lunch on Tuesday, booked a day trip for a ride on Puffing Billy in the suburbs for today and then took a free ride on the City Tram on the way to my apartment. They seemed impressed with how neat and clean I've kept the apartment. Haha. ;p
I hope to hit the gym tomorrow morning and Friday morning before meeting them. In fact, I've suggested they could visit Victoria Market tomorrow morning and I'll meet them for lunch there after gym. On Friday, I'm thinking of bringing them to DFO and the Docklands for a little shopping. No idea what to do for Saturday yet. I wonder if I should bring them around the university to take a look in the morning and then take a cruise along the Yarra, since my dad wants to. Then, it's the Tulip Festival again on Sunday. They'll be leaving on Monday evening, which means they probably only have the morning left to do any last minute shopping or photo-taking around the city. Right, that's the tentative plan.
JM can't visit me this spring break, so I will probably spend quite a bit of time on my assignments. Hopefully, she comes in late spring or early summer when I'm done with all my assignments. I'm planning to visit C over Christmas and New Year 2010 - 2 weeks in NYC! Then more exploring in Australia when I return.
I can't wait for the super-long summer holiday! :D

Weekend Fun
I can finally breathe a little more easily for the next two weeks. It's spring break!!! :D The past few weeks were so terrible that my normal schedule just went haywire and I stopped going to the gym for a couple of weeks now. There were readings to do, assignments to complete... what else is new where a student's life is concerned? Heh. Anyway, quality of work aside, I'm just glad that all my assignments were submitted on time. I did well in my first two, passable for the third one and the fourth... well, let's just say I'm not really eager to get back my grade for that one. :\
After all assignments had been submitted, I watched Up one evening with Peichin, Shannon and Don. The 3D-experience was pretty cool and the animated movie itself was entertaining. On Saturday, we went for a Salvador Dali exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV), a totally eye-opening and thought-provoking experience. Appreciating art can be quite an intellectual process, especially if the pieces are as abstract as Dali's works. I have a new-found respect for surrealist artists now. :) It was Korean cuisine for dinner and Koko Black for drinks after an artsy afternoon. The food was great and so was the company. :D
I met Juliana the next day to walk around in the city and to explore the harbour area. It was a pity the day started out cloudy. All my pictures didn't turn out that good. :( We walked down Swanston Street, grabbed some brochures at Federal Square and I had my brunch at Southgate's foodcourt. Along the way, we saw people running for some marathon that was going on. We shopped at DFO and then walked past the stadium to get to Harbour Town. It was a pretty long walk. Despite feeling tired from her fasting, Juliana was game enough to carry on. We took a tram back to the city and bought some grocery before having dinner and calling it a day.
Here's the apple strudel Pikie bought for Peichin and me when she was in Perth over the weekend to celebrate Melody's birthday. It doesn't look that fantastic but, trust me, it was delicious! :) I was just sorry that I had to finish it within two days.
