Heheheheheh. I know, I know. I've been posting pictures of the NDP show for the past few weeks. You must be sick of it by now. Unfortunately, I'm not! ;p Not yet, anyway.
NE Show 2 was a lot more organized than the first. I am glad I had the second opportunity to watch the big performance! =D
My brother was there with his RVPS pupils too, sitting right in front of the VIP function room (the little building behind the audience), while my mother sat in the first row right behind Teo Chee Hean, our Minister for Defence, who was the reviewing minister for NE Show 2. I sat somewhere in between them with colleagues from Montfort. We had better seats than last week and we got in a lot faster without having to take any detour from Choir's holding site at the Flyer. The fun packs were already placed on the chairs for everyone, so a lot of queueing-up time was saved.
Everything looked more in place. The audience was fantastic - co-operative, appreciative and very, very encouraging - especially all the students from the lime green and leaf green sectors. Their cheers really rocked the floating platform. I thought our choir kids did better than last week, though we've yet to receive feedback for last night's performance. (The feedback supplied for NE Show 1 wasn't very positive.) As usual, the fireworks took my breath away, but I was still sane enough to snap plenty of shots.
Well, I'll post the pictures up and you decide if they are downright awful, mediocre or very nice. Haha, I'm not expecting anything more commendable than 'very nice'. ;D Anyway, as usual, I'll only post the better ones. ;p

Can you spot the 3 very cool activities going on here?

More individual shots of our Red Lions

Sparks from the motorbikes...
... and even rifles!
Couldn't resist this shot because of the brilliant blue sky and pretty white clouds
More of the sky!
In the limelight: Colours party and guards-of-honour
I'm not sure if it's an eagle or even the same one, but it's certainly huge. I've been seeing it gliding around for several weeks now. I don't know if eagles are territorial, but this one (if it's an eagle) seems to be overseeing this part of the sky. I've always liked eagles. I think they're like the big cats - very majestic with an aura of quiet authority.

Final pose for Veedu
Masks AND fans used for 幸福的图形 this time
Right after the arrival of the Ministry for Defence, there was MAJULAH SINGAPURA!
Arrival of the state flag

... the march-pass of the colours party
Zooming over us again: the Black Knights

Something new: dancing fountains

Last but definitely not the least, here is the climax of the entire parade: the fireworks!

After the performance, the participants stayed behind to rehearse for the finale again. We left the floating platform for Choir's holding area. As usual, we were blocked by MINDEF personnels who only allowed us through when we told them we were teachers-in-charge of the Combined Schools' Choir.
It's such a hassle to enter and leave the floating platform without the pass. Apparently, they've stopped producing it. I am quite upset about the whole thing honestly. Are we teachers so insignificant that we've been overlooked? Or that we absolutely have no need to be at the floating platform? Blugh. And this is after being with the kids during ALL rehearsals since May. 没有功劳也有苦劳。
Anyway, we only managed to board the bus at around 10 pm, I think. By the time I dismissed the pupils from school and locked up the school gates, it was around 10.50 pm. Thankfully, I managed to flag a cab which was willing to drive in the direction of my home. I only reached home a little after 11 pm, and met my brother (who also came home in a cab) at the basement carpark.
I've rostered myself off-duty from NDP rehearsals next weekend. I need a break. And honestly, at the rate my work is piling up, I suspect I will probably be working anyway. Gosh, I must go out or something. I miss the girls. Mel is at Hillsongs conference in Sydney the past week. I think she should be back this coming week. I should make arrangements for a meet-up soon with her and Joce. Hopefully, they'll be free.
